Twitter is broken, fix it already!
A short blogpost for things that are irritating me in Twitter. Perhaps this is the chance for Identica to surpass them? Here we go :
- Not being able to see direct messages on your home stream sucks. Twitteriffic is doing a FINE job by showing them with a blue background. They even go as far as to show your replies with a orange background. What are you waiting for to steal this idea?!
What, you are affraid that this «private conversation» might be seen by others? Look behind you, is there actually SOMEONE looking at your screen behind your back? This could be a setting that you turn off or on whenever you need to…
- There is something weird with your caracter counter. I can type the longest message possible, which is exactly 140 caracters long (according to the counter) and Twitter STILL is saying that my message is too long, and that only web viewers will be able to see the whole thing. WTF?!
- Why do @laughingsquid has to be the first in my following list? Why not sort things alphabetically instead of reminding me everyday that @julien was on Twitter FAR before @zelaurent? I don’t need to know this… Could be cool to actually CHOOSE which following person you want to display on that list.
- I can’t see people replying to me on my home stream if I don’t follow them. I can see how this could be a problem, if someone is bothering you over and over but again, it could be a setting that you could switch off.
- Twitter is over capacity. What else is new?
- I can’t direct message people that don’t follow me. FUCK…
The end.

Johnny Canuck : I completely agree and share your frustrations with Twitter on a daily sometimes hourly level. The contacts sorting issue is my biggest annoyance.

How hard is it to a sort by [user defined] in the freaking SQL query.
